AZALIA SNAIL
"Avec Amour" CD
(TCCD-027)
$12.00
"Avec Amour" is Azalia Snail's most accessible record to date. Still dazzling in her own layered and textured way, there is a basic rock/pop force that should win her many new fans. Azalia has recorded 11 critically-acclaimed albums, gaining recognition as a pioneering force in the underground "lo-fi" movement of the 1990's. Many influential labels have released her music, including Sub Pop and Dark Beloved Cloud, who launched their label with a split 7" 45 by Azalia and SEBADOH. She was commissioned by MTV to score the music for the program "Ain't Nuthin' But A She Thing". She has also composed music for several indie features and short films.

CRIB
"Remnant" CD
(TCCD-013 / 0168)
$12.00
CRIB = Devin Sarno (bass). Full length offering of meditative low-end sound pieces. Features guest musicians Jeff Gauthier, G.E. Stinson & CRIB's original short film soundtrack w/ Nels Cline, Petra Haden & Joseph Hammer.

"It's contemporary classical music with an indie rock sensibility and will find fans in folks who grew up digging noise bands but are looking for something a bit more beautiful to trip out on in adulthood.."
--Rolling Stone.com

The Eastside Sinfonietta
Featuring: Weba Garretson
"Don't Be Afraid" CD
(TCCD-015)
$12.00
"You ought to be able to smell and feel it, not just hear and see it. Otherwise you haven't stuck your nose far enough into the world of Bertolt Brecht, Kurt Weill and their circle of musical/dramatic accomplices. And the musicians of the Eastside Sinfonietta help you do that. Not by omitting baths, but by breathing and jostling the music like the human beings they are."

"Vocalist Weba Garretson gives Lotte Lenya a run for her money, reaching deep into our psyches and hearts with her voice."
- Louise Steinman / Los Angeles Public Library

Carolyn Edwards
"self-titled" CD
(TCCD-022)
$12.00
Debut solo CD from an artist the L.A. Weekly has declared: "one of L.A.'s finest songwriters." Carolyn is an ex-member of such seminal Los Angeles bands as 3-D Picnic, Spindle & The Negro Problem. CD features performances from: Nick Walusko, Nelson Bragg and Probyn Gregory (from the Wondermints, Brian Wilson's band), Heather Lockie from Listing Ship/WACO/The Eels, Paul Lacques from I See Hawks In L.A., Marc Doten from Doublenaught Spycar, and many others.

Faith of Our Fathers
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD
(TCCD-005 / 0053)
$12.00
Hamilton Sterling's dark and skeptical film Faith of our Fathers was a hit at the Los Angeles Film Festival a couple of years back. Since that time, it has played in art houses from New York to Cairo, to audiences who have found its strange mix of parable and borderline documentary/manifesto style both alluring and disturbing. One thing noted by reviewers and spectators alike has been the importance of the music - with opera singers, prepared piano and exotic percussion augmenting a traditional orchestra - to the themes of the film.

This is a CD of the full score, plus several bonus tracks. All the music was composed, arranged and conducted by Steve Gregoropoulos (of W.A.C.O.) and was produced by the director. It features several well-known names in new music in Los Angeles in uncredited (but nonetheless stellar) performances."

Danny Frankel
"The Vibration of Sound" CD
(TCCD-011 / 0134)
$12.00
This esteemed drummer / percussionist has played with the likes of: Lou Reed, Marianne Faithfull, Laurie Anderson, Fiona Apple, Bo Diddley, Bebel Gilberto, Don Cherry, Beck, K.D. Lang & countless others.

"This is an organic disc, top to bottom, reminiscent of Miles' "In A Silent Way" or Eno's "Another Green World". But with Frankel's insistent bongoes and congas mixed high, this is a lovely record, pretty without being innocuous, well-crafted without any extraneous showing off, showcasing the auteur as a thoughtful rhythm maker as opposed to hammer-handed acrobat." -- Rolling Stone.com

Thomas Kugler
"Lilith - The Rock Opera" 2xCD
(TCCD-020)
$18.00
A 24-song double-CD set which retells the Creation story with the addition of Lilith, the first woman created to be Adam’s wife. Coming to life as a spellbinding nymphomaniac, Lilith is instead condemned by God to Hell to join Satan as his bride; Lilith and Satan then conspire to bring about Adam and Eve’s fall from grace and bring sin into the world when they are no longer under God’s protection in Eden. A story told entirely in song, “LILITH” features 30 musicians and singers, including members of Fang of Love, Pigmy Love Circus, W.A.C.O., Listing Ship, and Soho Vamp. LILITH’s singers and players incorporate rock singing and electric instruments with orchestral arrangements and operatic motifs to create a wholly unique sound and a fascinating conceptual work.

Brand new studio CD out now!

Listing Ship
"Dance Class Revolution" CD
(TCCD-010 / 0115)
$12.00
Abstractions along the borders of tenderness -- songs that express not onlywith lyrical content but timbre and music concrete. This album starts out with the best pop intentions, and disintegrates into clicks, cuts, glitches and field recordings. This is the most commericial AND experimental collection yet by this quartet. Vocals/guitar: Lyman Chaffee, vocal/viola: Heather Lockie, bass guitar/sound processing: Pablo Garcia, drums/theremin: Matt Stein.

Listing Ship
"Sunshine and Other Forms of Radiation" CD

albums of the year."
--LA Weekly

The Lullabies
"Lullabie's Lullaby" CD
(TCCD-017)

Get this full length CD of what started out as a dinner and casual living room jam for a low-key one-off coffeehouse gig.

Jeff Merchant
"Window Rolled Down" CD
(TCCD-024)
$12.00
Compelling work from a member of the Lullabies.

Ultra-Red
"FS59" CD
(TCCD-008 / 0071)
$12.00
Ultra-Red has always been about music, but it has always been about more than music, too. The brainchild of auteur/saboteur Don Rhein and collaborator/sound molester Pablo Garcia, Ultra-Red has taken the form of dance hall parties, art installations, manifestos, books, paintings, political rallies, automobiles and who-knows-what? In this case, Rhein and Garcia have assembled a series of interviews with a transsexual firefighter into a lovely musique concrete soundscape that ranges from bouncy to frightening to simply achingly beautiful, as the words have become sounds, rhythms and, ultimately, even exquisite melodies.

The CD includes a manifesto on the rights of transgendered workers. Ultra-Red has already amassed an international reputation for surprise and experiment, and "FS 59" will only increase that reputation.

"A true to life call to arms..."

W.A.C.O.
"Wig Rodeo" CD
(TCCD-001 / 0034)
$8.00
This soundtrack sounds like a cross between Nino Rota's best moments and late Stravinsky. Soundtrack to a film by Marcel de Jure; music composed and performed by: Steve Gregoropoulos (piano, clarinet), Elizabeth Herndon (flute, trombone), Justin Burrill (acoustic guitar), Adam Brisben (bass), Kyle C. Kyle (drums), Gerry Goldman (percussion), Celeste Moreno (oboe) & Beth Bergman.

W.A.C.O.
"Sylvania" CD
(TCCD-002 / 0039)
$12.00
Masterpiece 72-minute album that's garnered huge critical praise. An elaborate orchestral avant-pop record from this LA-based ensemble (guitar, vocals, bass, oboe, piano, clarinet, flute, trombone, bottle, drums, percussion, viola, violin, bassoon, cello). Press on this group's prior activities has compared them to Carl Stalling, Los Lobos, Zappa, Ian Curtis, Brian Wilson, Kurt
Weill and Aaron Copeland amongst others.

"Twisted orchestral pop that can break your heart."
-- Alternative Press

W.A.C.O.
"A Game of Cards" CD
(TCCD-009 / 0110)
$12.00
"A Game of Cards is the closest W.A.C.O. has ever come to a purely pop record Pied Piper flute flurries hover over the unfolding garden of "Fire Ants" like birds chasing each other in intertwined flight, while violist Heather Lockie and violinist-singer Rebecca Lynn stitch everything together jauntily with swooping feints of their bows. Only the gorgeous ballad "Hydra" moves at a glacial pace, calving icebergs, as Gregoropoulos laments the loss of faraway friends: "I can't talk to you in satellite transmissions." It's all very grand and stately and ambitious and, ultimately, quite satisfying. " -- LA Weekly

W.A.C.O.
